We are a medically oriented private optometry practice seeking a full-time or part-time Optometric Assistant, with full-time preferred. Experience in eye care or health care is welcome but is not required, and we are happy to train the right candidate. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term eye care career in a supportive, patient-focused environment.

Openings at Optometric Assistant I (entry level) or Optometric Assistant II level. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent patient care while working collaboratively with the team.

Responsibilities

· Answer phones and schedule patient appointments.

· Verify patient insurance information.

· Complete data entry and clerical tasks in electronic medical records software.

· Order eyewear.

· Perform preliminary testing, including auto refraction, NCT, and lensometry.

· Administer certain diagnostic tests under the doctor’s supervision.

· Maintain office cleanliness.

· Provide patient contact lens education and training.

· Complete other duties assigned by the director.

· For Optometric Assistant II, demonstrate proficiency and the ability to conduct certain projects with independence.

Job Type: Full-time, 35–40 hrs per week

Compensation and Benefits

· Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour

· Additional benefits available after 12 months of employment.

·Total compensation for qualified staff will be no less than $38,500 in the first year. 

Qualifications

· High school diploma required; associate degree preferred

· New graduates are encouraged to apply

· One year of health care experience is preferred

· Reliable transportation and a dependable commute to work
