Human Resources AssistantThe Human Resources Assistant serves as the initial point-of-contact for the HR department, responsible for delivering excellent customer service to employees, applicants, and visitors. Assists with position postings and new hire onboarding processes; is responsible for responding to HR related inquiries in a professional, courteous, complete, and accurate manner; maintains and manages various types of HR records; maintains a working knowledge of various HR disciplines and functions and systems and applications to perform functions efficiently and effectively. The HR Assistant serves as primary back-up for other various HR functions and is continuously growing and developing in a broad range of HR functions deepening their areas of expertise.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assists in ensuring the consistent delivery of excellent customer service to City employees; interacts with employees and provides guidance to a variety of HR questions; receives and directs calls and walk-ins of an advanced nature to appropriate Human Resources team-members.Communicates in a timely and professional manner with employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public, representing the best interests of the City, anticipating needs, and resolving customer service inquiries and other issues.Performs advanced clerical and administrative tasks to assist the HR department in supporting its core functions.Maintains and updates the HR SharePoint and HR Information System with current information to include upcoming employee events, benefit information, available offers and more.Generates purchase orders for the HR department and City to include the payment of benefits provider invoices, employee event expenses, tuition and wellness benefit reimbursement.Assists with the City's online application system, including posting and removing vacancies as requested by the hiring department; enters data into the City's HR Information System.Assists in the recruitment/onboarding functions by responding to applicant inquiries, assisting applicants with the on-line process of completing applications, and conducting background checks for selected applicants.Performs new hire onboarding processes by communicating with candidates and coordinating various pre-boarding and onboarding activities.Takes the initiative to provide assistance to other HR team members as needed.Serves as back up for other HR functions and responsibilities; assists with special projects, events, and assignments.Performs other duties as assigned or required.Education and Experience Requirements:High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.Two (2) years of customer service and HR related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Certifications and Licenses Required:A valid driver's license is required.Professional Human Resources (PHR) or other certification(s) in a specific HR discipline preferred.Job Post Closing Date: November 8, 2026
