Erskine Construction and Sealcoat, LLC is seeking an experienced Diesel Engine Mechanic to join our growing team. We are looking for a dependable, highly skilled mechanic who can diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment while effectively managing our digital maintenance and fleet management system .

This position is ideal for an experienced mechanic who is comfortable turning wrenches AND managing maintenance electronically.

Compensation

$50,000 – $120,000+ per year, depending on experience, skill level, and qualifications.

Candidates with advanced diagnostic abilities, fleet-management experience, and strong digital maintenance-system experience may qualify toward the top of the pay range.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, and construction equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and emissions systems
• Perform engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and drivetrain repairs
• Maintain construction and paving equipment
• Accurately document all inspections, repairs, parts, labor, and maintenance activities in the company's digital maintenance management system
• Schedule and track preventative maintenance through the digital system
• Monitor equipment service intervals, mileage, engine hours, and upcoming maintenance requirements
• Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records for each vehicle and piece of equipment
• Enter repair information and close completed work orders
• Track parts and maintenance-related expenses
• Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend corrective action
• Help minimize equipment downtime through proactive maintenance
• Respond to equipment breakdowns when necessary
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work environment

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous professional experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, truck mechanic, or similar position
• Demonstrated experience using a digital maintenance management, fleet maintenance, or computerized maintenance system
• Ability to independently enter, update, and manage electronic maintenance records
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems accurately and efficiently
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and emissions systems
• Ability to read and understand service manuals and wiring diagrams
• Ability to perform repairs with minimal supervision
• Experience performing preventative maintenance
• Own basic mechanic hand tools
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a construction environment
• Comfortable using computers, tablets, and mobile devices for maintenance documentation

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

• Experience managing maintenance for a construction or commercial fleet
• Experience with heavy-duty dump trucks
• Experience with paving and construction equipment
• Experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Mack, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, Freightliner, or similar equipment
• Experience with computerized engine diagnostic systems
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Advanced electrical troubleshooting
• Hydraulic system repair experience
• CDL Class A license
• CDL with air brake endorsement
• ASE or other relevant certifications
• Experience tracking parts inventory
• Experience scheduling preventative maintenance
• Previous experience overseeing other mechanics or maintenance personnel

Flexible Scheduling

We are willing to work with the right candidate on a schedule that fits their experience and availability.

Potential scheduling options include:

• Full-time five days a week.
• Weekends Optional
• Flexible weekday schedule
• Part-time schedule for an experienced mechanic
• After-hours / on-call work as needed

Schedule and compensation will be discussed based on experience, qualifications, and availability.
