Maintenance Specialist

Maintenance Specialist – Boca Raton, FL Florida Atlantic University (FAU) seeks a Maintenance Specialist to provide functional leadership for facility maintenance in Campus Recreation and the Student Union in Boca Raton, FL. Responsibilities Respond to day‑to‑day work orders and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule. Perform repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other mechanical systems. Prepare cost estimates and maintain records of job/project costs. Organize requests for tools, equipment, and materials. Conduct daily building and field walks to ensure safety, security, and maintenance. Provide guidance and recommendations for building systems, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Assist with emergency procedures and weather response plans. Assist with the development and management of the annual facility maintenance budget. Coordinate services with departmental leadership and campus partners. Provide on‑call support for all emergency‑related maintenance items. Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish responsibilities. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of appropriate experience in facility maintenance. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute for experience at an equivalent rate. Knowledge of multiple trades and clear understanding of repair processes. Ability to comply with federal, state, and local laws, and campus safety and maintenance protocols. Ability to work independently, schedule maintenance activities, and coordinate with partners.
