Manager in Training (MIT) – Exterior & Handyman Company: Groovy Home and Property Services (GHPS) Location: Charlotte, NC / Rock Hill, SC Area (Field and Office Based) Position Overview We are hiring an Exterior Manager in Training to lead our Exterior Handyman, Renovation and Restoration division. This is a 100% performance‑based leadership role. The MIT will learn to build, manage, and grow a field service department while selling and providing labor for the jobs sold. Key Responsibilities Lead property prep, restoration audits, and full‑time handyman operations. Identify and close larger opportunities such as renovations, investment deals, and solar integration. Perform envelope protection audits and storm damage assessments. Generate and maintain lead channels as a junior concierge, closer, and project manager. Execute the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to closing, including presenting options and financing. Manage project set‑up, scope, timelines, agreements, follow‑up, and customer walk‑throughs. Develop and demonstrate deep mastery of the GHPS full range of services and the complete project lifecycle. Mentor and train field sales team members, including Jr Concierges and Car Captains. Track team and individual KPIs, analyze performance data, and set sales goals. Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members. Spend field time to understand daily activities, challenges, and successes, including door‑to‑door canvassing and cold calling. Contribute to a positive, collaborative, high‑achieving team culture. Qualifications Proven direct sales experience, preferably in commission‑based environments. Experience in roofing, siding, solar, renovation, restoration, or general contracting B2C/D2D industries. Strong sales and leadership potential; previous mentorship or coaching experience is a plus. Excellent communication, goal‑oriented mindset, and proactive, resourceful attitude. Highly organized with strong time‑management skills. Agile learner who quickly grasps new information. Team player who can work independently and collaboratively. Integrity, professionalism, and respect for a positive team environment. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel throughout the service area. Knowledge of or interest in the home services and property solutions sector. Must be able to teach the GHPS sales and project lifecycle. Training, Compensation, and Benefits Compensation : 1099 independent contractor, commission‑only, no base salary. Earnings are directly tied to performance and results. The MIT program includes: Government leads and initial support for a general contractor license or IICRC certification. Additional paid training in lead generation, closing, and project management. Uncapped earning potential with top performers earning $150k+ annually. $69.00 per hour for actual labor hours worked on each job, plus 20–30% commission on the total profit for each service contract, renovation, or investment deal closed. Manager override and profit‑share opportunities. Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance bonuses for product, referral, review, social‑media, and top‑performer awards. Eligibility for benefits begins after 90 days of employment. Most MITs reach full Interior Manager status within 12 months. Candidates will practice field immersion, door‑to‑door canvassing, and cold calling. Career Path Successful MITs advance to Field Sales Manager and can later move into Operations, Customer Experience, Service Line leadership, or specialized technical/licensed roles (GC, EC, Real Estate, Solar, etc.).
