Water/Wastewater Utility Technician Department: Water/Wastewater Location: Bossier City, LA We are hiring a Water/Wastewater Utility Technician to assist with operations and maintenance of water and wastewater systems, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of clean water to the community and proper treatment and disposal of wastewater. Your Primary Responsibilities Field-based work (~75%) and office-based work (~25%) including: collecting chlorine samples, monitoring and adjusting chemical feed rates, reading meters, supporting lift station operation and maintenance. Conduct DEQ-required discharge sampling, daily site visits to assess sewer and water plant conditions, complete quarterly nitrification sampling, and collect monthly LDH-required water samples. Utilize SCADA systems and Office 365 applications (Excel) to track data, monitor system performance, and support reporting. Regulatory Compliance Ensure water and wastewater systems comply with environmental laws and regulations. Prepare for and manage inspections from regulatory bodies. Stay updated on changes in regulations and ensure the utility adapts accordingly. Infrastructure Support Maintain water and wastewater infrastructure (pipes, pumps, valves, treatment facilities, etc.). Oversee system inspections and emergency repairs. Public Relations Communicate to the manager regarding emergency situations. Assist with response to complaints and issues from the public, working to resolve concerns. Emergency Response Ensure the utility is prepared for emergencies and that systems can be quickly restored. Data Analysis and Reporting Review data from water and wastewater systems to monitor performance, efficiency, and compliance. Prepare regular reports for management. Sustainability and Innovation Develop and implement sustainable practices such as water conservation, energy‑efficient technologies, and waste recycling. Stay informed about new technologies and methodologies to improve utility operations and sustainability. What You'll Need Hands‑on experience with water treatment and wastewater processes and regulatory compliance. Water/Wastewater certification (Level II Certification preferred). Leadership experience and a team‑player mindset. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of environmental regulations and local, state, and federal laws. Excellent communication skills for interacting with management. Travel to multiple water or wastewater facilities based on client or project needs.
