Staff Perfusionist

Essential job duties include: Heart/lung/kidney machine use during cardiopulmonary bypass for all surgical procedures requiring the technology. Modifying or adapting the system for individual case requirements where applicable. Providing autotransfusion services for any surgical procedure. Clinical use of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) science. Understanding mechanical circulatory support devices. Serving as a clinical instructor for the USC Master of Sciences in Perfusion Sciences student body. Communicating concisely and clearly with surgical teams. Integrating into the sub‑management workflows of the department. Following established USC and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Work arrangement: 100% on‑site. The employee must report to the USC Health Science Campus in Los Angeles, CA, or any other USC affiliate institution when scheduled. Work hours and days may change depending on business needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable interfacing with the highest level of university leadership and university supporters/volunteers. Demonstrated affinity for diplomacy and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels. High level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality. Ability to multi‑task effectively and demonstrate strong organizational skills. Sound judgment and decision making. Cooperative and team‑oriented attitude. Effective facilitation in various settings. Required Qualifications Intended graduation from an accredited perfusion program. Hourly rate: $79.01 - $02.49. Work directly under the supervision of the Director of USC Perfusion Services, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technicians, and circulating nurses. Motivated, pro‑active, resourceful, and detail‑oriented. Excellent organizational and communication skills with decisiveness and adaptability. Experience or exposure to various heart‑lung machine systems and their technologies, autotransfusion machines, and point‑of‑care devices. Minimum education: specialized/technical training. Minimum experience: 6–12 months (combined education/experience may substitute). Graduation from an accredited perfusion training program, certification‑eligible by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, current CPR/BCLS, and knowledge of universal precautions.
