Summary
The Electrician will modify, rebuild, repair, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls. May assist in installing new equipment. Applies knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Maintain, repair, and calibrate electronic and pneumatic/hydraulic instrumentation systems for industrial process. Troubleshoot and repair new systems during the operational tests and improvise procedures to cope with unforeseen defects. Construct interface devices and modifications to the equipment from sketches and verbal instructions in order to refine the new system operations.

Physical Demands Efforts:
Frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. They are sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required.
Mental & Visual Demands:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components. Work Environment:
Work is usually performed inside in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimes necessary to work in industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. Employees are subject to injuries, such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons.
Various PPE devices & equipment such as gloves, hardhat, Harness, safety shoes, hearing protection and glasses may be required. Flame retardant clothing and flash shields when working on power distribution systems. OTHER JOB-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
May help with facility maintenance inside or out for meetings or events.

Job Duties :
- Works on a variety of electrical equipment such as AC/DC motors (single, split, and three-phase), generators, starters, voltage regulators, servo mechanisms, alternators, transformers, actuators, power control panels, control sticks, instrument panels, or inverters. May rewind motors, generators, transformers, precision coils, and similar components.
- May work on analog, digital, and/or temperature, logic systems, programmable controlled equipment and systems, and CNC equipment. Performs complex test and check-outs where fault isolation requires detailed knowledge and understanding of system, interfaces, test procedures, specifications and other pertinent parameters.
- May work on power distribution systems and substations if certified.
- Use of the usual hand tools of the electronics trade, such as drills, chassis punches, wrenches, and soldering irons, is needed to remove and replace parts where accurate positioning, appearance, mechanical strength, and electrical integrity are important.
- Use a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, growlers, meggers, resistance bridges, and analyzers to test electrical characteristics.
- Use feeler, depth, tension, and spring gauges; micrometers; and dial indicators to measure clearances, tolerances, and dimensional characteristics.
- Make adjustments, set cams or other controls, and perform operational tests of items for specified performance characteristics such as torque, force, voltage, and current consumption or to detect excessive vibration, overheating, surge, or drag.
- Proficient in the use of a computer, and various software programs to troubleshoot programmable controller and CNC equipment.
- Performs plant-wide electrical maintenance, making operating adjustments as required.
- Receives wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions, both verbally or in writing, concerning emergency and scheduled repair, installation and inspection work to be performed.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles, wiring specifications, local and national electrical code properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
- Plans details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and determines a logical approach to repair problems.
- Services electronic equipment by checking, testing and replacing faulty components, circuit modules,printed circuit boards, vacuum tubes, and similar electronic devices.
- Maintains and installs communication cables, power, distribution cables and wiring and performs splicing as required.
- Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
- Informs supervisor and line mechanics of potentially dangerous electrical equipment and corrective actions taken.
- Advises operators and line mechanics of standard operating procedures and requirements for working safely with electronic equipment and components.
- Maintains required performance and maintenance records for electronic and electrical equipment.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or Trade school. Possess MA Journeyman's License preferred and 5-7 years industry experience.
- Requires 6 or more months training to become familiar with facilities and equipment. May be on 24/7 call in notice.
