Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.Job Summary: Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.Qualifications:Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Associate's degree in Nursing. Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.Experience: One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse, State of CT. Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA). Additional certifications may be required in specific specialties.Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:Applies the principles and practices of nursing.Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care.Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time.Knowledge of high reliability.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team.Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.Self-directed in clinical responsibilities.Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities.Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs.
