Senior Principal Software Engineer - CRDN

Medtronic seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead embedded software architecture and development for next-generation renal denervation medical devices. This technical leadership role combines hands-on engineering with strategic decision-making, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration within the Coronary & Renal Denervation business unit.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop embedded software for medical devices following Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Define architectural standards, design patterns, and technical best practices across the platform
- Make high-impact technical decisions aligned with long-term platform and business strategy
- Lead risk assessment activities, requirements development, and cross-functional integration with hardware and systems teams
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, mentor engineering teams, and stay current with industry trends
Requirements
- 10+ years technical leadership experience or 8+ years with advanced degree
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field
- Medical device software development experience
- Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and C#
- Experience with Linux OS, PetaLinux, Yocto, FreeRTOS, and containers
- Knowledge of secure SDLC practices and software risk management
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, IEC 82304, and FDA medical device regulations
