Position Overview:

This role involves providing professional nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Primary Duties:

• Execute scrub functions, including selecting and managing instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Perform circulating duties, which involve monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient conditions while overseeing their nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms along with surgical instruments and equipment for use.
• Utilize evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in nursing to ensure care is tailored to the patient's age and clinical needs as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
• As a nurse, uphold the professional standards defined in our practice model and adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to address the evolving health and nursing needs of our patients.
• Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent education for licensing.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly use speech for oral communication.
• Constantly stand and walk.
• Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
• Utilize vision and depth perception for both near and far distances, as well as color recognition.
• Employ smell to detect and recognize odors.
• Use hearing to receive oral communication and identify body sounds or alarms.
• Occasionally lift and move objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasionally assist in lifting or moving patients.
• Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
• Occasionally drive.
• Rarely crawl or run.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:

For Illinois:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

For Missouri:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by Compact State

For Oklahoma:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by Compact State
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)

For Wisconsin:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by Compact State
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
