Assistant United States Attorney (Criminal)

Attorney Position The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio is seeking an attorney with criminal litigation experience. This vacancy will fill positions in our Cleveland, Youngstown, and Toledo offices. AUSAs selected for positions in Youngstown, OH will be required to travel to Cleveland, Ohio for the first thirty days of employment, and this initial training period may be extended as necessary. The Criminal Division is organized into six sections: General Crimes; White Collar Crimes; National Security; Violent Crimes; Narcotics/Organized Crime Drug Trafficking and Asset Recovery Team (DART); and Appellate. Criminal Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) prosecute federal criminal cases in the District. Criminal AUSAs advise federal law enforcement agents on criminal investigations, present criminal cases to the grand jury, try criminal cases before the United States District Court, and represent the United States in criminal appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Candidates should be capable of handling a variety of significant and complex criminal prosecutions. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
