Family Law Paralegal

Our client is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal for a direct hire opportunity in Virginia Beach, VA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional with dedicated family law experience and strong knowledge of local court procedures, including Circuit Court processes on the Southside and in Newport News.

The Family Law Paralegal will support attorneys with contested and uncontested divorce, child support, child custody, adoption, pleadings, discovery, court communications, client interaction, scheduling, and case management. Key Responsibilities

- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and related family law case materials.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing parties, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Schedule meetings, court dates, client appointments, and case-related deadlines.
- Meet with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and support attorney preparation.
- Produce case status reports and maintain organized case files and documentation.
- Support monthly billing requirements through accurate timekeeping and case activity tracking.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $45,000 to $70,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: Virginia Beach, VA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support family law matters involving contested and uncontested divorce, child custody, child support, and adoption.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents for attorney review.
- Manage case communication, scheduling, court coordination, and case status reporting.
- Maintain organized files, deadlines, billing entries, and client documentation.

- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of dedicated family law paralegal experience in the local court system.
- Experience with Circuit Court procedures on the Southside and in Newport News.
- Knowledge of court procedures related to family law matters, including differences between local jurisdictions.
- Strong experience preparing pleadings and discovery documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
- Collaborative work style with the ability to support attorneys, clients, and team members effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

- 3 to 5 years of family law paralegal experience.
- Prior experience supporting a busy family law practice with high client interaction.
- Familiarity with monthly billing requirements and legal timekeeping practices.
