Founding In-Vivo Scientist San Francisco, CA – Full-Time – On-site Monday morning 9 am. Coffee in hand, you pull up yesterday's in-vivo data before you've sat down. You're running the experiments today. A vendor calls. The IVC rack you need this week is delayed. Two weeks ago you would've said "okay, keep me posted" and moved on. Not anymore. You give them a call. You've learned how to move fast. Thirty minutes later the rack is back on track. Then the chemist walks over with a vial. Novel peptide, synthesized this morning in the in-house pipeline, built on a scaffold our ML model proposed last night. IV dosing this afternoon. Tail vein, 25 mice per arm, ~150 per study. Second trial right after. By 6pm: 300 mice dosed. You didn't know how to do a tail-vein IV a month ago. Stereotax, ICV, jugular cannulation, running an EEG rig, necropsy. A dozen things you've picked up in weeks, not months. This sequence didn't exist 24 hours ago. Model proposes at night, chemistry synthesizes by lunch, you dose in the afternoon, readout two hours later. The full loop runs in a day. You log everything into the internal tracking stack, and you're walking data over to the ML and chemistry teams. No tickets, no meetings, just "here's what happened, what do you want to try next." They queue the next batch before you've finished your sentence. 8pm. Dinner is ramen down the street. The six of you. Someone floats an EEG arm. We should look closer at sleep architecture. Everyone nods. By 9:30 the electrodes are on and the rig is recording stages through the night. The traces look clean. You go home. 300 mice dosed today. A number that would've taken your old lab a quarter. Tomorrow the model ships a new batch. The Mission In the age of ever-improving AI capabilities, we humans are lagging behind. We're hungry, distractable, tired. A third of our day is spent unconscious. Half of us get cancer, half of us get heart disease. We're incapable of sustained high performance. We fall ill. At the pre-seed stage, we raised $12M in funding from the best deeptech investors. What does a future look like where we can systematically identify, validate, and induce beneficial capabilities? The first program: Inducing short-sleeper phenotypes in adults. But we are interested in more: cognition, Alzheimer's, birth control, extending the visual spectrum, and more. We’re supportive of team members taking on major leadership or even starting their own programs. If you want to spin up your own program, we have the resources, advisors, and tools to make it happen. The Role You're the person running the last stage of our fast testing loop: the in vivo work. You dose our candidates daily (IP, IN, PO, intra-brain), you read the animal data, and your data picks the next compound. You'll be one of the founding scientists at Capable. We're targeting first-in-human dosing by end-2026. Most biotechs take weeks to go from synthesis to animal data. Here, it happens in one day . We do not know of another lab on earth running this loop at this speed. One day. Synthesis to animal data. One day. Start-ups are unique. Roles aren't as ossified or constrained as in a large corporation--you'll often learn a new role every few months, enabling you to grow as a person and team member.
