Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 17-week night shift contract on a 29-bed Oncology/Med-Surg unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of oncology specialty experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting, 7th floor Oncology/Med-Surg unit with 29 beds
• Travelers work exclusively on the inpatient floor (not in the outpatient area)
• Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, and end-of-life care
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
• Charge nurse is staffed outside of the patient care grid except in unusual circumstances
• Central telemetry monitoring available; strip reading is not required
• Charting via MEDITECH EMR
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
• Floating is rare, but may occur to a medical acute unit
• 3-day floor-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active RN license in Georgia or a compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required; NIHSS preferred
• ONS certification required if performing chemotherapy administration
• Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement

Additional Information

• Outpatient area patients may be transferred to the inpatient floor to complete treatment if the outpatient area closes before their infusion is finished
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
• Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
• Time off requests and scheduling accommodations are only honored if submitted and confirmed at the start of the assignment
