Senior Water Resources Engineer - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Position Overview Senior Water Resources Engineer in our Transportation Engineering group located in Lone Tree, CO. Tasked with executing complex water resource designs across North America including design-build, public-private partnerships (P3) and CM/GC projects. Serve as a technical expert and mentor to junior/mid-level staff in advanced hydrologic and hydraulic design topics. Project support from initiation through final construction in Texas and other states. Responsibilities Drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using models and methods; preparation of design plans, reports, technical documentation. Mentoring and leading others in drainage and H&H functions. Hydrology: single‑event and continuous rainfall modeling, watershed analysis, hydrograph and peak discharge development and routing. Hydraulics: pavement drainage, culverts, storm systems, pump stations, bridge sizing and scour, flood analysis, NPDES compliance, channel hydraulics and design. Drainage design: development of drainage plans, profiles, specifications and estimates for transportation and water resources projects using Inroads, ArcGIS, etc. Technical expert: provide guidance on non‑traditional water resources projects, mentor senior engineers, provide Engineer of Record stamp, compile permits and reports, track scopes, schedules and budgets. Proposal activities and interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure compatibility; support project communications, technical meetings and problem resolution. Depending on project, act as Engineer of Record for final design. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field, 12+ years of design experience in drainage, water resources, hydraulics or hydrology in transportation or land development projects. PE license required. Experience on US transportation projects; design‑build project experience preferred. Proficiency in HEC‑HMS, SWMM, TR‑55, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑GEORAS, HY‑8, CulvertMaster, StormCAD, CivilStorm, PondPack, FlowMaster; 2D experience such as SRH‑2D, FLO‑2D helpful. Experience developing construction plans for transportation projects preferred. Knowledge of hydrologic analysis methods, watershed analysis, peak discharge development, routing. Familiarity with pavement drainage, culverts, storm systems, bridge sizing and scour, revetment design, temporary drainage, coastal considerations. Understanding of FHWA hydraulic engineering circulars and design series. Knowledge of flood risk analysis, NFIP including CLOMR and LOMRs. Stormwater quantity/quality calculations, NPDES compliance, erosion control knowledge. Experience mentoring others, developing workflows and “how‑tos”. Occasional travel up to 25%. Compensation and Benefits Base compensation: $150,000 per year to $165,000 per year. Compensation varies by education, experience, skillset, and location.
