Job Title: Telecommunications Designer Job Description

A growing multi-disciplinary design-build firm is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to support numerous upcoming projects in the Seattle area. This role is ideal for an entry- to mid-level designer with 2–6 years of telecom design experience, familiarity with Revit, and a strong electrical or related background. You will contribute to a variety of project types, gain exposure to advanced technology and data center environments, and have a clear path to grow into a Project Manager role within approximately two years. • Design telecommunications systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects within a multi-disciplinary design-build environment.
• Produce accurate and coordinated telecom design documents using Revit, ensuring alignment with electrical and architectural disciplines.
• Develop drawings, models, and details that support technology design, including data center and other complex project types.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, architectural, and construction teams to integrate telecom requirements into overall project designs.
• Apply electrical design and engineering principles to telecom layouts, cabling systems, and equipment placement.
• Use AutoCAD and other design tools as needed to support drafting, coordination, and documentation efforts.
• Support project controls activities by maintaining organized documentation, tracking design changes, and assisting with schedule and scope coordination.
• Participate in design reviews, respond to feedback, and make adjustments to telecom designs to meet project standards and client expectations.
• Contribute to technology design solutions for facilities such as data centers and fulfillment centers, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Engage in learning opportunities and mentorship to build skills with the goal of progressing into a Project Manager role.
• Work effectively in a hybrid environment, coordinating with team members both in-office and remotely to keep projects moving smoothly.
• Help ensure projects start and progress efficiently by supporting design deliverables for a robust backlog of work.

• 2–6 years of experience in telecommunications design or closely related technology design roles.
• Proficiency with Revit and the ability to independently produce project deliverables using Revit.
• background in electrical, drafting, architectural, or electrical design engineering with a strong interest in technology design.
• Experience with electrical engineering design concepts as they relate to telecom and low-voltage systems.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drafting and design documentation.
• Understanding of construction environments and project workflows, including coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to support project controls through organized documentation and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and clients.
• Motivation to grow into a Project Manager role within approximately two years.

• RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification.
• BICSI certification or coursework related to information and communications technology design.
• Experience working on Amazon fulfillment center or similar large-scale facility projects.
• Prior involvement in data center design or other mission-critical technology projects.
• Interest in long-term career growth within a multi-disciplinary design-build firm.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of project types and changing client needs.

The role operates in a hybrid work environment, with three days per week in the office and two days remote. You will work within a multi-disciplinary design-build setting that offers exposure to a wide range of project types, including data centers and large fulfillment facilities. The firm maintains a strong career-oriented culture, emphasizing longevity, growth opportunities, and continuous learning, with senior staff averaging 17 years of tenure. There is a robust project backlog extending over three years, providing stable work and ongoing opportunities to contribute to new and existing projects. You will use tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, collaborate closely with electrical, architectural, and construction teams, and participate in a professional environment that values teamwork, client relationships, and employee development.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
