General Functions:

The Health Services Coordinator supports the implementation and coordination of comprehensive health, nutrition, disabilities, and safety services for children and families enrolled in Early Head Start at Clare Swan Early Learning Center. This position coordinates compliance activities, maintains required records, supports staff and families, and collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure services align with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and program policies. By safeguarding the health and safety of the children and families CITC serves, this role directly supports CITC's mission to work in partnership with our people to develop opportunities that fulfill our endless potential. The Health Services Coordinator plays a vital role in helping Clare Swan Early Learning Center operate as a safe, compliant, and nurturing environment where children and families can thrive.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate implementation of health policies and procedures to support compliance with Early Head Start Performance Standards and municipal childcare licensing regulations.
• Maintain the Early Head Start health database and student health records, ensuring accurate documentation of well-child exams, oral health screenings, immunizations, medical homes, and developmental screenings, and communicate health requirements to families while facilitating referrals and follow-up services.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to support children's daily health needs, including wellness monitoring and medication administration in accordance with program procedures.
• Coordinate disabilities services in partnership with the Senior Manager of Teaching & Instruction and community providers, and support the development of inclusive practices that promote full participation for all children.
• Monitor completion of daily health and safety checks, and conduct and document monthly, quarterly, and annual emergency drills and inspections to support compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Coordinate Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) activities, including monitoring compliance, completing monthly meal count reconciliations, preparing required reports, and maintaining current knowledge of CACFP requirements to support annual grant application and reporting processes.
• Maintain allergy care plans and coordinate related staff training, provide guidance and technical assistance to kitchen staff regarding CACFP compliance and meal service standards, and coordinate the purchase of food and program supplies within approved budgets.
• Coordinate onboarding and training activities for health, nutrition, and safety practices, providing ongoing resources to support staff development.
• Participate in health and safety meetings with internal and external partners, including the Health Services Advisory Committee and CITC Health & Safety team, and collaborate with education, family engagement, and program staff to align health and nutrition services with program goals and family needs.
• Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, including self-assessments, monitoring, data collection, and compliance reviews.
• Support coordination of health and safety training, family engagement activities, and community partnerships to enhance access to health and nutrition resources.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations and adapt to shifting priorities and needs.
• Ability to work within a licensed early learning center environment, engaging regularly with young children, families, and program staff.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
• Two (2) years of experience in data entry and data tracking.
• Have or be willing to obtain Health Services Administrator Credential (Head Start University) within one year of employment.
• Must provide copy of current Health Report.
• Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree in health administration, nutrition, or related medical field. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirements on a year-for-year basis.
• Former or current Head Start parents are encouraged to apply.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
• Able to get up and down off the floor with ease, including kneeling, bending, squatting.
• The ability to wear the appropriate PPE.
• Frequently exposed to bodily fluids.
• Possible exposure to noise, and contaminants such as cleaning solvents.
• Routinely exposed to outdoor conditions including inclement weather.
