Intermodal Truck Drivers / company & owner operators

Job Description

The Intermodal Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting standard shipping containers and general cargo within a local 150-mile radius. Operating tractor- containers/trailers and specialized intermodal chassis, this role ensures deliveries are completed efficiently without overnight travel. The driver must maintain compliance with safety regulations, perform thorough vehicle inspections, and accurately document routes and cargo using GPS and electronic logging tools.

Responsibilities

Drive tractor-container/trailers and intermodal chassis to transport containers and freight locally
Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance
Maintain precise log documentation for routes, hours, and cargo handled
Follow all safety regulations and company policies throughout transport
Manage time efficiently to complete deliveries within the designated local radius
Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics teams using mobile apps and GPS

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience with CDL-A license
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
No history of DUI or SAPs

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the Chicago area rail yards and intermodal transport operations
Proficient in vehicle operation and safety inspections
Strong time management and route planning skills
Effective communication and regulatory compliance abilities
