Responsibilities: Serve as lead editor on assigned accounts and perform Editorial reviews on other accounts as needed Mentor and manage 2 to 3 direct reports, communicating editorial best practices, processes, standards, and guidelines; give constructive feedback and evaluate work on a regular basis to ensure quality control on client deliverables Maintain ongoing dialogue with Medical Affairs, Copy, Account Services, and Project Management to ensure materials are edited according to client and/or AMA/house style specifications Comprehensively monitor editorial requests to team, assist staff in load-balancing their workload to ensure all deadlines are met, and stay informed of upcoming projects through close communication with Project Management team Collaborate closely with the PM team and Editorial Director to identify solutions to address daily bandwidth issues Step in when managerial input/action is needed and/or elevate to Editorial Director (eg, too-tight timelines, internal or external disputes) on behalf of staff Assist in resolution of imbalances in workload, disruptions to normal workflow, team concerns, and additional staffing needs Know when additional resourcing is needed and alert Editorial Management to plan accordingly to ensure adequate editorial coverage Maintain effective/ongoing communication and collaboration with other Editorial team Managers: Communicate resourcing under/over bandwidth needs with other Editorial Managers/Director to manage fluctuating bandwidth needs Participate in Editorial team meetings and contribute to fostering a team mentality Assist Editorial Director in annual reviews of Editorial staff and organize training/development with Editorial Director Advise manager about departmental evaluations, training, and scheduling Ensure team is responsive to in-house needs Requirements: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in liberal arts or sciences A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a senior editor or higher level in a medical communications or advertising agency A comprehensive knowledge of AMA style, strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and communications skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Acrobat Pro The ability to work independently, proactively, and within tight deadlines Ability to both multi-task and stay focused on one project until completion Ability to complete research and gather information online Please be cautious of unsolicited or fraudulent job offers.
