Accounting Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Accounting Assistant for an established local company in Norfolk. This role primary focuses on Accounts Receivable (AR) with light support in Accounts Payable (AP).

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable: Process incoming payments, post customer deposits, prepare invoices, and maintain accurate ledger accounts.

• Collections & Inquiries: Perform light outreach to follow up on past-due balances and assist customers with billing queries in a professional manner.

• Accounts Payable Support: Assist with entering vendor invoices, matching purchase orders, and basic batching/filing as needed.

• Account Reconciliation: Basic daily/weekly account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.

• Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable or general bookkeeping/accounting roles.

• Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or standard ERP systems).

• Skills: Numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and solid communication skills.

• Reliability: Dependable attendance and a proactive attitude toward getting tasks done during morning hours.
