Licensed Practical Nurse- Medication Clinic

Job Title Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Location Kansas City, MO | Department: Psychiatric Clinics | Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide hands‑on nursing care across residential, outpatient psychiatry, and substance use disorder programs, administer medications, perform assessments, support clinical documentation, and collaborate closely with providers and care teams to promote patient safety, continuity of care, and overall wellness. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment settings. Administer medications through multiple routes including oral and injections in accordance with clinical protocols. Perform physical and mental health assessments, psychiatric screenings, and patient evaluations. Support client intake by rooming patients, obtaining vitals, collecting lab samples, and verifying medical histories. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of medication administration, assessments, and care interactions. Coordinate with providers to manage medication refills and address client medication‑related questions. Monitor medication inventory, conduct MAR reviews, and complete medication counts to ensure compliance. Assist with lab duties including phlebotomy and maintaining up‑to‑date medical records. Promote infection control, client hygiene, and overall health and safety within the facility. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support care coordination and positive client outcomes. Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications Current and active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Missouri required. Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program required. Additional Qualifications Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required. Successful completion of background checks including criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint screening. Strong knowledge of medication administration, psychiatric care, and substance use treatment practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with patients and team members. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), documentation systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA). Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills. Willingness to learn, adapt, and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. Physical Requirements Perform primarily sedentary work, including sitting for extended periods with occasional standing or walking. Use hands and fingers frequently for typing, writing, and handling medical equipment. Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds, including assisting with minor patient care tasks. Maintain mobility sufficient to navigate clinical environments and respond to patient needs.
