Air Reserve Technician Supervisor
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Air Reserve Technician (ART) supervisor exercising technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers on assigned shift, enforcing schedules and directing work priorities. Trains reservists in the accomplishment of duties and responsibilities set forth herein.
DUTIES:
DUTY 1: Performs work planning responsibilities. Through coordination and consultation with the Aircraft Section Chief and other AMU supervisors, develops plans for the Aircraft Maintenance section. Based on established priorities and work schedules, plans the use of resources including employees, equipment, materials, tools, and facilities to accomplish work on a daily, weekly, and project basis. Follows established maintenance schedules, priorities, time requirements, and detailed work plans in planning work assignments of subordinate employees. Conducts studies within area of responsibility to improve and/or standardize methods, improve production, working conditions and/or environment, improve quality, reduce costs, etc. Provides information to supervisor in the form of verbal and written reports dealing with status of work, departure from normal priorities, methods or procedures, and manpower or material shortages, which may affect work schedules. Recommends changes to established priorities, deadlines, procedures, and work sequences when unplanned conditions exist.
DUTY 2: Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, reassign personnel within group supervised, and coordinates work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work progress to meet schedules. Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Reports possible or actual work delays to superiors.
DUTY 3: Performs administration responsibilities. Advises employees of performance expectations and explains new work techniques, as required. Provides proper guidance and direction, continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments and recommends performance ratings in accordance with regulations. Recommends appropriate recognition and corrective action, as needed, in performance management. Recommends the most suitable applicants for vacant positions. Explains classification determinations to subordinate employees. Recommends restructuring position when necessary to achieve the most effective and economical utilization of personnel. Investigates grievances and complaints, resolving them informally where possible, and notifies supervisors of those of sufficient importance or seriousness. Recommends training based on needs assessment and mission requirements. Maintains work reports and records relating to section, e.g., progress, production, cost, personnel, equipment, materials, and time and attendance. Assists supervisors in planning overall leave schedule.
DUTY 4: Applies Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination. Takes positive action to implement affirmative action/EEO initiatives identified in the installation Affirmative Employment Plan. Takes action to prevent or correct situations that may give rise to complaints of discrimination and/or sexual harassment. Cooperates fully with counselors, investigators, and examiners.
DUTY 5: Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Ensures employees with access to classified information comply with security directives. All known security violations are reported to the proper authority immediately when discovered. Submits reports in accordance with reporting directives. Ensures safety equipment and protective clothing/gear are worn when mandated by regulations. Any condition which might pose a hazard to safety or health is reported to the appropriate authority as soon as possible after detection. Administers the reserve training and associated programs for the shift ensuring consistent standards throughout the section for traditional reservists and ARTs.
