Description Job Information Title: Civil Engineer Series Department: Regional Bus Company Authority: TA/OA/MTA BUS Division/Unit: Facilities Location: East New York Depot Hours: Reporting Manager (if Applicable): Senior Manager Deadline (if Applicable): 7/29/26 Compensation\Authority - Union TA - Non Rep OA - Non Rep Salary Information Civil Engineer I: $90,551.00 $84,837 - 106,843 Civil Engineer II: $107,655.00 $100,864 - 121,852 Civil Engineer III: $120,427.00 $112,829 - 133,020 Responsibilities The incumbent will perform supervisory work in the discipline of civil engineering. Plan, assign and evaluate subordinates’ work for preparation of progress reports. Represent Bus Operations in relations with State/City agencies, consultants, contractors and damage claimants. Prepare or supervise the preparation of the fundamental/complex portions of the design plan for major projects such as construction, remodeling, operation, maintenance or repair of structures or installations. Monitor field survey and construction inspection to ensure compliance with technical codes and/or contract specifications. Perform design assessments/cost estimate for issuance of technical reports and modification requests. Inspect equipment and material for acceptance and process payments. Interpret architectural, electrical and mechanical layouts/design plans for establishment/preparation of engineering criteria, contract drawings and technical specifications. Participate in engineering investigations and generate reports as directed. Education and Experience A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and four years of full-time experience in civil engineering. A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in civil engineering. Special Note: In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project. Desired Skills Strong technical knowledge and practical application of civil engineering principles. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage assigned projects effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment from start to finish with appropriate oversight. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skill with working knowledge of building systems and site requirements, including structural, MEP and geotechnical considerations. Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. Proficiency in CAD Software and computer programs such as Bentley Micro Station and Microsoft Office.
