Chief Financial Officer

the client seeks a mission-aligned, dynamic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organization through a pivotal period of growth, accountability, and re-accreditation. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO will build and lead a high-performing finance team while overseeing core financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, audits, and compliance. ideal candidates will be entrepreneurial nonprofit fiscal leaders with a track record of supporting mission-driven organizations through significant change. The role requires a people-first approach and the ability to ground big vision in financial reality, advocating for sustainable growth, transparency, and accountability while helping shape a culture of access and excellence through financial leadership. the CFO should have strong technical finance and compliance acumen, including expertise across core finance disciplines such as fund accounting, budgeting, audit readiness, financial modeling, and compliance. The role also involves designing financial systems and internal controls that meet nonprofit and/or higher-education expectations, communicating financial information clearly to executive leadership, boards, auditors, regulators, and accreditors, and acting as a builder and systems thinker who can create order during ambiguity, establish policies, and guide others through organizational transitions.
