Graduate Assistant, NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Location: Hickory, North Carolina The primary responsibility of the Graduate Assistant (GA) for the NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program will be to support the administration, recruitment, student engagement and day-to-day operations of Lenoir-Rhyne University's Noyce Scholars Program within the College of Education & Human Services. The GA will work closely with the Noyce Grant investigators, faculty, staff, current scholars, prospective students and university partners to support the successful implementation of grant activities. The GA will assist with scholar recruitment and outreach, program events, student tracking and communication, record keeping, preparation of program materials and other administrative responsibilities associated with the Noyce grant. This position provides an opportunity for a graduate student interested in education, student services, higher education or related human service fields to gain significant experience in grant-supported program administration, student recruitment and educator preparation. Primary Duties and Tasks Work approximately 20 to 25 hours per week, with a regular schedule established in coordination with Noyce Program staff. Assist with recruitment activities designed to identify and engage prospective Noyce Scholars, including outreach to current LR students, prospective graduate students, career changers and other potential candidates. Collaborate with Office of Graduate Admissions staff to support recruitment and initial communications with prospective students. Communicate with prospective applicants and current Noyce Scholars regarding program activities, deadlines, events, requirements and other program-related information. Maintain accurate records and tracking systems for prospective applicants, applicants, current scholars, program completers and other Noyce participants as directed by the Program Director. Assist with tracking scholar participation, academic progress, program milestones, licensure progress, employment information and completion of Noyce service requirements. Assist with maintaining organized electronic and physical records associated with the grant and Noyce Scholars Program. Prepare correspondence, informational materials, presentations, recruitment materials, meeting materials and other documents associated with the program. Assist with developing and distributing program communications, including email correspondence, announcements, recruitment messages and event information. Assist with coordinating communication among Noyce Scholars, faculty, university offices, school partners and other stakeholders. Support activities associated with the Noyce Summer Institute and other scholar development, community-building and professional learning activities. Represent the Noyce Scholars Program and the College of Education & Human Services professionally at recruitment activities, university events and meetings as appropriate. Complete general administrative tasks, including data entry, copying, filing, scheduling, preparing materials and maintaining program records. Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding student information and grant-related records. Be flexible to work occasional evening or special event hours based on program needs. Required Qualifications Current full-time enrollment in a graduate program at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Bachelor's degree in education or a related human services field. Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5. Experience working in a higher education office or administrative setting. Experience working in or with public schools or educational organizations. Demonstrated record of service to the community during undergraduate study. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet established deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with students, faculty, staff and external partners. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle student and program records. Proficiency with common Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn university and grant-related information systems. Preferred Qualifications Student leadership experience at the collegiate level. Experience with student recruitment, admissions or outreach activities. Experience working directly with educator preparation program administration and faculty. Experience planning or assisting with student events, workshops, recruitment activities or professional development programs. Experience with data management, record keeping, spreadsheets or student tracking systems. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with prospective and current students. Ability to work independently, take initiative and complete assignments with limited supervision. Interest in teacher education, STEM education, educator recruitment or increasing the number of highly qualified teachers serving high-need schools and communities.
