Show Systems Engineer

Salary: $158,000 - 198,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a bachelors degree in Engineering or Technical Theater, or equivalent relevant experience.
• We need 7+ years of experience in theme park and/or live entertainment applications.
• We require prior show system design experience in one or more disciplines.
• We require prior operational experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of show systems.
• We need experience with large, distributed control systems.
• We expect the ability to travel 20–30% and obtain a passport for international travel.
• Preferred: knowledge of TAIT Navigator software.
• Preferred: basic understanding of cueing and system architecture for network-based audio and lighting.
• Preferred: basic understanding of video routing and switching methods.
• Preferred: technical knowledge of video display technologies, including projection and modular LED panels.
• Preferred: technical knowledge of regional display formats, resolutions, and refresh rates.
• Preferred: experience with show programming.
• Preferred: experience with Q-SYS programming.
• Preferred: understanding of DMX and eDMX protocols such as sACN and Art-Net.
• Preferred: understanding of Network QoS and PTP.
• Preferred: CCNA or higher networking certification, or equivalent.
• Preferred: understanding of wireless systems, including WiFi, mesh, and leaky coax installations.
• Preferred: familiarity with software such as Medialon and QLab.
• Preferred: familiarity with automation systems such as Beckhoff or Siemens.
• Preferred: understanding of functional safety.
• Preferred: basic knowledge of the commercial side of projects.

• We identify the show control architecture and core technologies needed to meet project requirements.
• We prepare riser diagrams and technical project documentation.
• We understand show systems and how disciplines such as automation and AVL interact.
• We create custom user interfaces with a strong focus on the end-user experience.
• We develop custom software interfaces and configurations when projects require them.
• We design and configure managed networks for show control and related disciplines.
• We research and recommend new products and solutions, and build and test prototypes when needed.
• We support project bidding, including technical proposals and estimates.
• We collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet performance needs, follow best practices, and integrate properly with other systems.
• We develop and promote internal standards and processes using feedback from end users, clients, show programmers, and support teams.
• We lead design reviews and provide constructive feedback to the team.
• We coordinate with vendors and contractors to support successful system installation.
• We commission and formally test installed systems to confirm correct performance and meet client requirements.
• We expand the control engineering teams show control capabilities by leading large-scale show control projects.
• We help define best practices while mentoring and training other engineers.
