Senior Accounting Manager

A leading public company is seeking a Senior Manager, Segment Accounting to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting for a major business segment. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting leader who thrives in complex environments, enjoys solving challenging problems, and has a track record of strengthening controls, improving close processes, and developing high-performing teams.

You'll serve as the accounting leader for the segment, partnering with finance, operations, audit, and executive leadership to ensure accurate reporting, drive process improvements, and create a sustainable control environment.

What You'll Own

✅ Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for a large operating segment

✅ Ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial results and reporting

✅ Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses

✅ Drive remediation efforts for internal control and process improvement initiatives

✅ Partner with Internal Audit, SOX, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and external auditors

✅ Support SEC reporting requirements, including 10-Q and 10-K deliverables

✅ Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and reporting enhancements

✅ Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting managers and senior accountants

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Public company accounting experience
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance
• Experience leading teams through periods of transformation and change
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills

Preferred Experience

• Big 4 or national public accounting background
• Segment Controller or business unit accounting leadership experience
• Internal control remediation and process redesign experience
• Exposure to Oracle ERP, FCCS, ARCS, or other financial reporting systems
