Senior Group Risk Analyst

Line of Business Risk Management Job Description The Senior Group Risk Analyst provides a broad range of research, analysis, reporting, monitoring and/or operational process support within a defined area of function. Supports business by providing expert guidance/advice on a range of risk related matters within assigned or own area of specialization. The Senior Group Risk Analyst may support and/or provide oversight, commentary, and strategy analysis in connection to team and/or individual initiatives. Department Overview U.S. Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) provides independent oversight and coordination of enterprise non-financial risk programs, driving consistency, governance, risk reporting, and program execution across the Bank while supporting the ongoing maturation of risk management practices and operating models. The 2nd line Operational Risk Management Committee (ORMC) Orchestration team serves as the central coordination point for leading ORMC Executive Committee administration and related governance processes and risk reporting, and supports regulatory and audit-related response coordination where applicable, all while engaging cross-functional teams to support and enable effective oversight, risk transparency, and informed decision-making across the organization. Depth & Scope Utilizes expertise to exercise sound and expert independent professional judgement and discretion in interacting and communicating with staff and senior management of the Bank with respect to regulatory risk and other matters Empowered to make prudent professional recommendations - in rendering advice and counsel to business lines or assigned area and risk which impact performance of the business and overall enterprise strategies and objectives Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own functional area Understands the industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization Acts as the primary subject matter expert and expected to make sound decisions in setting standards within area of expertise Applies expert knowledge and best practices to implement process, product or service improvements Oversees and/or independently performs tasks from end to end Acts as a subject matter expert within own area of specialty or as a resource for others Leads projects of moderately to complex risk and resource requirements; may lead end-to-end processes or functional programs Executes on complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders Recommends and implements solution within own are or responsibility that impact the strategies and objectives of the department Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommends standards against which others will operate Impacts a high level of complexity in operational/reporting/process and/or analysis function requiring medium to longer term focus Provides advanced analysis and/or specialized reporting to support business partners, functional areas or centers of expertise Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels Works independently as the senior technical lead and guides others within area of expertise Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels Additional Role Responsibilities The Senior Group Risk Analyst is a vital role, which works with various stakeholders across Risk Management, primarily including but not limited to, Non-Financial Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Model Risk Management, and various Enterprise partners across corporate functions and lines of business. Role accountabilities: Role accountabilities Support U.S. ORMC governance and reporting activities oversight via the coordination, review, and preparation of routines/protocols, team engagement, and leadership concurrence Coordinate committee administration activities, including meeting logistics, attendance tracking, action item management, Mandate and membership maintenance, and post-meeting distributions Support 2nd line development of Executive-level risk reporting and insights, including risk profiles, emerging risks, material events, and program updates, while engaging with stakeholders across the Bank Perform reporting activities, including data collection, QA checks, and preparation of synthesized Executive-level information to better enable risk oversight, monitoring, and decision-making by NFRM leadership and ORMC members Assist with ad-hoc regulatory and audit response support, as well as broader remediation initiatives by supporting reporting, documentation, and coordination of cross-team stakeholders Identify opportunities to enhance reporting, governance processes, and operational practices to support continuous improvement and risk program effectiveness Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in Risk Management or Governance & Control as well as in U.S./North American banking regulatory environments is considered an asset Previous experience with Operational Risk Management Programs and Frameworks including Risk Profiles, Risk Appetite Statement, Issue Management, etc. and familiarity with Risk Taxonomies High proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (i.e., PDF merging, amalgamation, redaction) and MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel (e.g., pivot tables, charts, etc.), and PowerPoint Experience with Microsoft Co-Pilot (or other AI Assistants) and Risk Management platforms is an asset Strong sense of ownership and continuous‑improvement mindset, paired with a proactive, results‑oriented approach Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, including senior executives Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with business partners across the Bank and at various levels of the organization Resilience and flexibility to manage multiple initiatives and priorities while meeting critical deadlines Strong analytical, reporting, and structured problem‑solving skills Education & Experience Undergraduate degree or technical professional certification and/or 5+ years relevant experience Proficient knowledge of risk management, programs, policies, practices & reporting for business supported and/or area of discipline Understanding and experience with various programing tools Knowledge of risk management environment, standards, regulations and mitigation Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends Ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of initiatives Advanced skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques Skill in using computer applications including MS Office Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Customer Accountabilities Develops and operationalizes standards, policies and processes to identify, report and mitigate overall risk exposures within the business Proactively analyzes potential risks and ensures key risks are aggregated/escalated to appropriate areas Supports ongoing risk measurement activities by acquiring, analyzing and reporting business operational or relevant loss data Establishes and provides regular risk analysis and reporting on operational loss performance of the business Supports business with analysis and reporting on risk issues and their impact which may include scenario analysis May be responsible for coordinating business continuity management (BCM) processes and supporting regulatory/compliance related initiatives impacting overall risks to the business (e.g. CDIC, anti-money laundering) Supports established enterprise-wide risk escalation, review and approval processes, data management, policies and risk assessment processes Contributes to the monitoring of Key Risk Indicators through the identification of key risk drivers for the business May also monitor/report on compliance, management, and strategic initiatives Provides regular commentary and industry analysis in supporting the development/maintenance/oversight of policies/procedures/practices Shareholder Accountabilities Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area Ensures respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meet business needs, comply with internal and external requirements, and align with business priorities Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate Ensures business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets) Participates in cross-functional/enterprise/initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk/provide guidance for complex situations Conducts internal and external research projects; supports the development/delivery of presentations/communications to management or broader audience Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations and assess the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices Monitors service, productivity and assesses efficiency levels within own function and implements continuous process/performance improvements where opportunities exist Leads/facilitates and/or implements actions/remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues Actively manages relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or oversight functions and ensures alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assesses potential impacts Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite Employee/Team
