Intermediate Systems Engineer

Geneva College is seeking an Intermediate Systems Engineer to support the technology infrastructure that advances our Christ-centered educational mission. This position requires strong expertise in Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, and modern endpoint management, along with broad competency across servers, storage, cloud services, telephony, and unified communications.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Mission-Aligned Technology Stewardship
  • Support Geneva's mission by maintaining modern, secure, and integrated technology ecosystem that serves students, faculty, and staff in the ministry of education.
  • Demonstrate a spirit of service, collaboration, and Christian character in all interactions.
• Endpoint and Device Management
  • Administer and optimize Microsoft Intune for device compliance, configuration, application deployment, and security baselines.
  • Manage Windows Autopilot provisioning and facilitate deployment workflows for campus devices.
  • Oversee OS lifecycle management, including updates, patching, imaging, and hardware refresh processes.
• Classroom and Academic Technology Support
  • Coordinate classroom software updates, ensuring academic applications remain current, stable, and accessible.
  • Collaborate with faculty and IT colleagues to support instructional technology needs.
• Infrastructure Operations
  • Maintain and support Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Monitor and manage storage systems (SAN/NAS), ensuring performance, reliability, and capacity planning.
  • Administer backup and recovery platforms to protect institutional data and ensure business continuity.
  • Support virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) and assist with provisioning and optimization.
  • Maintain printer infrastructure, including print servers, drivers, queues, and device troubleshooting.
  • Support cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and related identity and security services.
  • Assist with cloud migrations, hybrid integrations, and service optimization.
• Security Operations and Monitoring
  • Perform ad-hoc security operations by monitoring alerts and events from the institution's SIEM platform.
  • Investigate and escalate security incidents in collaboration with IT leadership.
  • Contribute to strengthening Geneva's security posture through proactive monitoring and best practices.
• Telephony and Unified Communications
  • Support VoIP/telephony systems, including call routing, handset provisioning, and system monitoring.
  • Maintain unified communications platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.) to ensure reliable campus communication.
• Operational Support and Continuous Improvement
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated issues across infrastructure and endpoint systems.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and standards to support operational consistency.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and planned maintenance windows.
  • Contribute to automation, scripting, and process improvement initiatives.
• Miscellaneous:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum:
  • Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Experience: 2 years in IT service desk, infrastructure support, security operations, or endpoint management.
  • Skill/Abilities: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and fix complex technical problems.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous approach to scripting and configuration.
  • Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College's "Foundational Concepts of Christian Education" by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
• Preferred:
  • Education/Certification: Master's degree in computer science or related field
  • Experience: 5 years in IT service desk, infrastructure support, or endpoint management.
  • Skill/Abilities:
    • Familiarity with SIEM platforms and basic security event analysis.
    • Solid understanding of Windows operating systems, device configuration, and patch management.
    • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and core infrastructure services.
    • Familiarity with storage systems, backup platforms, and virtualization technologies.
    • Working knowledge of cloud services (Azure AD/M365) and identity management.
