Power Generation - Field Service Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to generators and components at the customer's site.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (Santa Fe Springs, CA)

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Completing repair activities on generators or components
• Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of service
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
• High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
• Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision hands on exposure to working on power generation products.

External Qualifications and Competencies

(Intermediate):

• Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
• Startup and repair of bypass transfer switch.
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

Knowledge of Power Generation Equipment and ATS's (all makes & models applicable)

Knowledge of Diesel & Nat Gas Engines, HHP Engine experience a plus

Experienced Troubleshooter

Previous Field Service Experience

Computer Literate (QSOL, Insite, Inpower)

Understanding of Cummins/Onan Warranty

Decision Making (working alone)

Valid/Current Drivers License

5+ yrs Working in the Industry

Strong Customer Service Skills (working alone)

NFPA70E certified a plus

DOT- A current valid license is required for this role- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical- 3 years driving experience- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Education, Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Current relevant electrical certification Locally valid driving permit This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Basic level field service work experience Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience Customer service experience

Salary rate commensurate with experience.
