Job Summary Medical City McKinney – Full‑time Night RN Labor & Delivery Nurse (7 pm–7 am) with rotating weekend coverage. Responsibilities Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Use therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Plan, implement and direct care using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of the individual patient. Provide emotional support to patients and significant others to make informed choices regarding healthcare. Promote an environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture. Maintain quality, age‑specific care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients as assigned. Proactively advocate for patients and consistently educate patients/families throughout the continuum of care. Delegate tasks to the appropriate level of staff. Provide supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse assistants, student nurses, nurse externs/interns. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Registered Nurse license in the state of Texas or a compact state license. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
