Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Norton, MA, United States Date Posted: Jun 8, 2026 Job ID: JV-1844 Green Garden Products, a subsidiary of Central Garden & Pet, and the number one supplier of top-quality flower seeds and non‑GMO vegetable seeds for the gardening industry, is now seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Norton, Massachusetts facility. This is a non‑exempt, full‑time position with working hours of 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, and a pay range of $21‑$25 per hour. Maintenance Mechanics oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines. Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary. Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance. Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts. Orders and installs replacement parts for machines. Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines. Troubleshoots, tests and repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently. Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies. Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines. Collaborates with production manager regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required. Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with production manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES Mechanically inclined with great problem‑solving skills. Works well independently and with others. Organized with attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast‑paced and stressful environment. Must provide and maintain own tools. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent. Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience required, 3‑8 years preferred. Experience in manufacturing preferred. Electrical experience a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery. Must be able to visually inspect machines. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work is conducted in a warehouse environment with temperature changes depending on the season.
