RN - Labor & Delivery Specialist

Position Overview: This full-time role offers 12-hour night shifts, totaling 72 hours per pay period, split between Labor & Delivery and on-call duties. The nurse provides direct care in Labor and Delivery, Recovery, and Post-Partum units, ensuring individualized patient assessment and planning. Effective communication with physicians regarding patient condition changes is essential, along with prompt responses to clinical changes or treatment reactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians with care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, including support during c-sections and family education on infant and self-care.
  • Adhere to medication administration standards and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor fetal heart rate and uterine activity using continuous electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and palpations, providing interventions per AWHONN and ACOG guidelines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and composure in high-stress situations.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetrical emergencies.
  • Engage in departmental projects and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development through educational programs, literature review, and workshops.
  • Be available for on-call duties with a response time within 60 minutes.

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: Active RN license (Washington State or eligible compact license), current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications, AWHONN Intermediate EFM certification, and STABLE certification within 12 months.

Experience: Minimum of one year recent experience in Labor and Delivery or Newborn Nursery preferred.

Professional Requirements: Maintain regulatory compliance, punctuality, and adherence to organizational ethics and goals. Communicate courteously and respectfully with patients, guests, and staff.
