Job Description – Rad Tech – Pain Therapy PRN (as needed) (7469-1251) Description As a part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, our community hospital is being supported with more resources than ever before. Responsibilities Maintains high quality patient care services. Assists in bringing patients from waiting room, checking in patients, and applying monitors prior to procedure. Assists nursing staff during emergency situations by obtaining supplies and equipment as needed. Maintains patient confidentiality and respects patient modesty. Ensures side rails are raised and locked prior to transport. Assists in safely transporting patient from stretcher to exam table. Uses velcro straps on exam table when tilting table. Works with physicians and nursing staff to ensure timely patient schedules and wait times. Assists with developing and updating radiology policies and procedures. Assists with JCAHO preparedness. Maintains daily/weekly/monthly checklist. Performs additional duties as requested by Administrative Director. Ensures physician reviews of reports and clarifies with radiologist the appropriate exam needed for follow‑up if necessary. Prepares fluoroscopy room, assembles supplies and equipment, and provides accurate documentation needed for procedures. Confirms site verification and preps patient and prepares tray for procedure using sterile technique. Explains procedure to patient when necessary and confirms patient’s allergies and whether taking Metformin. Demonstrates efficiency in required advanced technical skills for Discograms, SCS, Radiofrequency, and sterile technique. Maintains implant log on all patients with temporary and permanent SCS. Operates C‑arm in OR setting for permanent SCS cases. Orders supplies from warehouse as needed and assures room is adequately stocked with proper supplies and linens. Notifies AD when special order supplies (RF needles, grounding pads, spinal needles, etc.) are low. Checks eyewash stations weekly. Checks expiration dates monthly. Assists with inventory if needed. Efficient in operating C‑arm and demonstrates knowledge in making adjustments as needed to ensure maximum image quality. Demonstrates knowledge of radiofrequency equipment and is able to troubleshoot when necessary. Notifies AD of any malfunctions. Contacts appropriate representative for necessary repairs when needed. Ensures sterility and proper packaging of autoclaved instruments from hospital. Maintains radiation safety procedures and keeps other employees aware of radiation safety issues. Assists in exchanging radiation dosimeter badges monthly. Keeps patient and employee radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable. Maintains apron integrity. Qualifications Registered or eligible for examination by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. Associate’s Degree in Radiological Technology. #J-18808-Ljbffr
