Elementary Special Education Teacher (Life Skills)Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre-K through 8th grade in San Antonio.We are seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) to provide individualized instruction and support for students with significant disabilities. We believe strong outcomes happen when educators, families, and support staff work together.What You'll DoAs an Elementary Special Education Teacher (Life Skills), you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities through individualized programming designed to help students develop academic, communication, behavioral, social, and independent living skills.Responsibilities include:Develop and implement instruction aligned to student IEP goalsCreate a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environmentAdapt curriculum, materials, and instructional strategies to meet individual student needsCollect, monitor, and maintain accurate student progress dataImplement accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports as outlined in student IEPsCollaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, general education teachers, and familiesParticipate in ARD meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of IEPsSupport students in developing independence, communication, self-regulation, and daily living skillsMaintain compliance with all federal, state, and local special education requirementsParticipate actively in coaching, planning, and professional developmentContribute positively to the culture and mission of the schoolWhat We're Looking ForSuccessful candidates will demonstrate:Strong knowledge of special education practices and IEP implementationThe ability to provide individualized instruction based on student needsStrong organization and documentation skillsThe ability to collaborate effectively with families, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and general education teachersPatience, consistency, and professionalismA growth mindset and willingness to receive feedbackStrong problem-solving skills and adaptabilityA commitment to helping students make meaningful progressQualificationsRequired• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university• Valid Texas Special Education certification• Ability to pass a criminal background check• Eligibility to work in the United StatesPreferred• Experience serving students with significant cognitive, developmental, behavioral, or communication needs• Experience implementing IEP goals and collecting progress-monitoring data• Experience collaborating with related service providers and families• Experience in a Life Skills, Functional Academics, Structured Learning, or self-contained special education settingWe recognize that special educators bring a variety of experiences and backgrounds.
