Empathetic Special Education Instructional Aide

Key Performance Responsibilities: Assists with supervision of students as assigned. Performs instructional tasks with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Duties may include small group, large group, one to one student assistance or other such duties/ assignments as determined by certified staff or building administrator. Must approach tasks in a pleasant, cooperative and positive manner. Practice patience and tenacity under trying conditions with students. Keep school matters confidential. Performs assigned supervision of students. Alert the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student. Assist with ensuring full implementation of instructional modifications and accommodations for students with IEP’s. Adapt to students and their unique learning styles. Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality to assigned duties. Work with others, such as therapists, counselors, social workers, job coaches and other instructional assistants. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times in appearance and attitude. Attend appropriate staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary or assigned by the building administrator or supervising teacher. Maintain training and certifications as required for the position. Serves as a chief source of information and help to any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.
