Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Operating Room team. The Surgical Technologist will work closely with surgeons, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, efficient, and high-quality care throughout surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate will have strong Orthopedic, Vascular, and Neurological (Neuro) surgery experience and be comfortable working in moderate- to high-acuity surgical cases . The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent sterile technique, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and maintain an organized and efficient operating room.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Surgical Technologist who can remain calm under pressure, adapt quickly to changing surgical needs, and contribute positively to a collaborative OR environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up operating rooms for surgical procedures.

• Review preference cards and gather all required instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications.

• Set up sterile tables and maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.

• Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse.

• Participate in surgical time-outs and post-procedure pauses.

• Scrub, gown, and glove appropriately and assist with gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants.

• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons efficiently and anticipate procedural needs.

• Maintain an organized back table and sterile field.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, equipment, and instrumentation.

• Support Orthopedic, Vascular, and Neuro surgical procedures .

• Troubleshoot surgical instruments and equipment as needed.

• Prepare sterile dressings and assist with specimen handling.

• Clean, organize, and prepare instruments for sterilization.

• Prepare case carts and ensure necessary supplies are available for upcoming procedures.

• Assist with room turnover, stocking, cleaning, and preparation for the next patient.

• Monitor equipment and notify appropriate team members of supply or equipment concerns.

• Maintain infection prevention and aseptic technique standards.

• Assist with patient transport and provide appropriate comfort and safety measures.

• Support surgeons, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team during routine and emergency procedures.

• Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives.

• Maintain accurate inventory and appropriately manage surgical supplies and equipment.

• Assist with training, mentoring, or precepting new employees and students when appropriate.

• Maintain compliance with healthcare, safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred/required.

• National Certification as a Surgical Technologist required.

• Current BLS certification required.

• Certification such as CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or TS-C (Tech in Surgery Certified) required.

• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and operating room practices.

• Ability to maintain sterile technique and follow infection prevention standards.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia staff, and other healthcare professionals.

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations.

Required Surgical Experience

Strong experience in the following surgical specialties is required:

• Orthopedic Surgery

• Vascular Surgery

• Neurosurgery / Neuro Surgery

Candidates should be comfortable supporting moderate- to high-acuity cases within these specialties.
