Lead Software Engineer - Java/React (Banking)

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least five years of applied experience
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficiency with back-end and front-end technologies, including React, JavaScript, Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
• Familiarity with messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Experience working with Kubernetes
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; ability to coach engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Practical cloud-native experience
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database query languages
• Preferred: Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
• Preferred: Exposure to cloud and distributed technologies
• Preferred: In-depth knowledge of financial services and its IT systems
• Preferred: Proficiency across the software development life cycle

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, applying unconventional approaches to technical challenges
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
• Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and encourage reuse of effective patterns
• Use software development life cycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Identify opportunities to prevent or automate remediation of recurring issues and improve application and system stability
• Lead evaluations with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical capabilities, and suitability for existing systems and information architecture
