This ad is for a specific One-Person Home, pay rate is $22.00 per hourRequirements for DSP One Person Home position:Must have experience working with individuals with IDD that exhibit behaviors that may result in significant physical harm to self and othersMust have trauma informed care experienceMust have mental health experienceMust have a calm demeanorMust be able to respond in the moment due to an unpredictable environmentMust be emotionally strongHealth care experience is a plusMust be able to perform emergency physical safety interventionsMust be 18 years or olderHigh school diploma or GEDValid PA driver's license2 years driving experienceVarious schedules available.Must be able to pass a background checkAbility to read, speak, and write EnglishParticipate and successfully complete required training (includes but not limited to CPR, First Aid, Med Administration, Safe Crisis Management)Life's New Beginning is looking for motivated individuals with a passion for care to take on the role of Direct Support Professional. The role of the DSP is to provide direct care while teaching daily living skills (cooking, self-care, hygiene, laundry, cleaning, shopping), health and safety skills, social skills, and relationship building skills. The DSP also provides support in the community and during social, recreational, and/or leisure activities. The DSP's role is also that of a mentor who will encourage and foster independence.Our mission is for those we serve to live a happy, meaningful, everyday life.Residential Programs: We have one and two-person residential homes in which the DSPs provide individualized care and support, teach concepts of daily living and promote community involvement. This position is specifically for one of our one person homes. This role is the most integral position when providing services and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The position requires patience, care, understanding, and compassion. It is also important that the DSP is responsible, reliable, honest, and has the ability to make effective decisions as well as possess the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.About You:We are looking for individuals who are motivated to better themselves every day.
