Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Location: Lehighton, PA 18235 (Carbon County) - Pennsylvania psychiatric nursing job
• Position: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) / Mental Health Nurse
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: June 8, 2026
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (6:45pm - 7:15am), 36 hours per week
• Availability: Every other weekend and holiday required
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 - $2,100

Psychiatric Nurse Qualifications (Requirements)

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania (PA RN)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work every other weekend and scheduled holidays
• Preferred: CPI/de-escalation training, psychiatric certification, or prior experience in crisis intervention

Key Responsibilities - Psychiatric Nursing / Behavioral Health

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults in a behavioral health setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status, mental health symptoms, and treatment progress
• Administer psychotropic and other medications safely and accurately according to orders
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and therapeutic support to patients and families
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and adhere to psychiatric nursing best practices and facility policies
