Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts (7p–7a); shift times may vary (7a–7p, 11a–11p, 3p–3a, 7p–7a) — flexible scheduling required; no block scheduling. Expected 4 weekend shifts per month. Travelers are expected to work holidays unless the holiday falls within contracted time off. No on-call requirement; standby for low census may occur with a 30-minute response time if called in.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department serving both adult and pediatric populations (approximately 325 visits per day across both ERs)
• Manage a patient assignment in accordance with unit ratios: ICU 1:2, Peds 1:4, Adults 1:4, Procedural Sedation 1:1
• Perform and interpret EKG monitoring; critical care ER nurses will complete advanced interpretation curricula including STEMI and Procedural Sedation modules during orientation
• Participate in triage as required and manage ER holds intermixed within the department
• Float to Pediatric ER as needed — approximately 50% of the patient population is pediatric
• Document and manage patient care using Cerner EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required
• Must have experience with both adult and pediatric ER patient populations; candidates assigned to Peds ER must have significant pediatric ER experience (not general pediatric experience)
• Must have triage experience
• Experience in a similarly high-volume ER environment required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with STEMI, CVA, burn, or receiving-center protocols
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry systems
• Experience working in a fast-track or multi-area emergency department environment
• Comfort working alongside ER techs, CNAs, LVNs, and mid-level providers in a collaborative team setting
