The Residential Summer Camp Counselor - plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for campers. Responsible for supervising children, coordinating various activities, and maintaining camper safety, counselors contribute to an enriching camp experience. They work closely with the camp leadership team and have opportunities for advancement based on merit during the camp season. Counselors typically come up with and lead activities including sports, arts and crafts, city and college campus tours, team building, leadership development, speech and debate, sports and games.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children and ensure their safety throughout camp activities
- Coordinate and facilitate sports, recreation, arts and crafts, and educational tours
- Monitor camper behavior and resolve conflicts as needed
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute daily schedules and special events
- Oversee meal times and provide first aid assistance as necessary
- Manage behavior to maintain a positive camp environment
- Work flexible shifts including weekends and overnight hours
- Report directly to the Camp Director and support team leadership goals
Required Qualifications
- College student or graduate
- Friendly, caring, outgoing and relatable
- CPR and First Aid Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in camp counseling preferred but not required
- Strong child supervision and conflict resolution skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of emergency response and time management
- Adaptable with demonstrated leadership potential
