Ours is a culture focused on what we can accomplish today, and where it can lead us tomorrow.The Medical Records Clerk will be responsible for managing the medical records of the facility, including preparing, storing, and retrieving patient health records. The medical record clerk reviews medical records for compliance with approved policies. Works independently or as part of a medical records department. Instill the IMS mission, vision and values in the work performed.Responsibilities:Compiles, processes, and maintains patient charts by completing assigned portion of daily audit trail; corrects and communicates problems according to established proceduresProcesses patient and 3rd party incoming and outgoing health record requests by following established proceduresUpdate patient charts including organizing and filing incoming health records by following established routing proceduresEnsures all medical records including in-office testing are assembled in standard order, labeled appropriately, accurately, and completelyKeeps health care providers and clinical staff informed by communicating availability or unavailability of the recordRequest hospital records for providers and clinical staff and upload them to electronic health recordsProcess incoming faxesMaintains patient confidence by keeping patient records of information confidentialPerform general clerical tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting with any other administrative dutiesCommunicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and healthcare facilities regarding medical recordsRequired Knowledge/Skills:At least 1 year of medical office or electronic filing experiencePrevious experience with Athena system a plusExcellent customer service and communication skillsAbility to plan, coordinate and organize tasks and workflowExcellent communication skills, ability to take initiative, work well with an established teamExcellent organizational skillsAttention to detailComputer skills using Microsoft software, scheduling software, and email applicationsThe ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe mannerEducation:High school diploma or equivalentAssociate's degree in health information technology preferred.Joining IMS is more than saying "yes" to making the world a healthier place.
