DESCRIPTION


Bus/ Van Drivers shall be responsible for the safe, secure and efficient transportation of all students.


Key Duties include:

• Maintain the interior and exterior of District vehicles for their safe operation and report any problems to the appropriate Administrator
• Supervise and ensure the safety of students boarding, departing and riding on the bus/ van.
• Follow District policies, regulations and department protocol for all aspects of student transportation
• In accordance with State Statue and the LAws of the State of New Jersey the bus driver is to check the bus for children left on board at the conclusion of every run. The check is to be performed at the school when dropping students off. At the conclusion of "from school runs" buses must be checked either at the last stop or pulled to a safe location and checked prior to returning to the bus yard. Upon arriving at the bus yard the driver must also call for a "Bus Checker" to board the bus and walk the aisle checking for children left on board
• Report student discipline problems to the appropriate District Administrators.
• Maintain radio communications to log reports and receive instructions
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all District constituencies
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be able to perform the essential functions of their position at 100% capacity, without any permanent physical limitations that would limit his/her ability.
• Posses a commercial drivers license and an exceptional driving record
• Have knowledge of Franklin Township roads or the capacity to follow written directions.
• Demonstrate the ability to understand the various types of special needs students.
• Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act
• Successful Criminal History Clearance
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT & COMPENSATION


10 Month, hourly position. In accordance with the provisions of the BOE/FTSSA collective bargaining agreement in the 26/26SY, this role is compensated at $28.10 / hourly.

ANNUAL EVALUATION: Performance is reviewed annually in accordance with NJ State law


and the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluations for certificated staff.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to be proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position, including but not limited Google Suite, IEP software program and Genesis Employee Portal and Student Information System.
