Examiner Nurse Practitioner

Position Purpose As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. Your role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran and helps positively impact each Veteran’s experience. Pay Rate: $109,577 - $199,577+ Job Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. Ten percent travel is required to include other LSGS clinics. Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Veteran’s medical history and health condition. Render objective medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on work and daily activities, based on examination findings and diagnostic results. Understand and work in the case management system, organize workload, submit findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts as needed to obtain additional medical information and insights. Accurately document examination findings and recommendations in clear, concise reports following established VA guidelines and required formats. Partner with all Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources that help complete tasks and meet deadlines. Manage time effectively and ensure appropriate submission and confirmation of availability and scheduling for all C&P exams. Maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and quality. Comply with VA training requirements and remain updated on all VA MDE program requirements. Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information and examination results in accordance with applicable privacy and security protocols. Qualifications Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by a U.S. Department of Education‑recognized accrediting institution. Valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license, not barred from practice in any U.S. state, district, or territory. At least one year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner. Preferred: Previous experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field. Basic Life Support certification required. Preferred: Previous military experience or familiarity with the military or veteran communities. Specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous. Proficient in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based medical opinions. Empathetic and compassionate approach toward patients, ensuring a respectful, patient‑centered evaluation process. Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills to interpret complex medical information and reach objective conclusions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey complex medical concepts clearly and present findings to diverse audiences. Unwavering commitment to ethical standards, objectivity, and fairness in disability evaluations. Meticulous mindset focused on accuracy, data quality, and alignment with LS and VA standards. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to manage multiple initiatives and change focus quickly. Strong customer focus and a sense of urgency. Authorized to work in the United States, including meeting federal contractor requirements. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common‑sense understanding, conduct detailed instructions, and resolve problems involving a few variables. Technological Ability Competent in MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records systems. Familiarity with Teams and web‑based instructional/learning management systems preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to fifteen pounds, see, hear, smell, bend, stretch, and engage in full range of motion to conduct comprehensive physical examinations. Travel Requirements 10% travel required to support other clinics; additional travel may be required for training or company events.
