Staff Engineers (BACKEND)

NOTES:

Hiring multiple engineers this quarter alone (up to 6x here). Open to fully remote candidates if they are very strong. Very open to feedback, as shown by the comp bands moving from $175-265k to $200-300k (just want to hire the best talent and will do what they can on their end to make it work). Open to predominantly Big Tech backgrounds, which should have a wide sourcing pool. Short 3-stage interview process

Work experience

• Proven record in fast- moving teams at reputable tech companies (e. g. , Google Cloud, Meta) and have seen what success, deployments, and mentorship look like at scale
• Prior early-stage (if complemented by scale) and/or Voice AI experience

Education

• Strong CS or other STEM degree from a top university (or other pedigree examples)

Hard skills

• Strong fundamentals for full- stack (Python and TypeScript) or backend (Python)
• Deep experience with GraphQL and React or strong distributed systems experience

Soft skills

• Strong teamwork and collaboration, including communicating technical concepts

Miscellaneous

• Excited/ready to be hands- on and in the weeds vs just high level

Traits to avoid

• Solely big tech experience in slow- moving teams (e. g. , Google Music instead of Google Cloud, Qualcomm instead of Meta etc)
• Multiple early- stage/founding experiences without seeing true scale
• Avoid high E4 to low E5 candidates (looking for high E5 to low E6 at least)
