Job Title
To provide services for the operation and maintenance of school vehicles and buses. Insure that the facilities and grounds are clean, safe, and in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Qualification/Basic Job Requirements
A high school diploma or GED. Valid South Dakota drivers license and commercial drivers license. Experience in building maintenance or driving/transportation preferred. Must maintain up to date training and certification. Demonstrates job responsibility, regular attendance and punctuality.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Sweeps, mops or vacuum classrooms daily. Keeps all the floors clean and in attractive condition.
- Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day if required.
- Scrubs, mops, and disinfects toilet floors daily. Cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
- Does minor repairs to building and grounds as needed.
- Assist in snow removal when needed and keep the grounds mowed and raked in the summer.
- Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses and obey all traffic laws.
- Keeps assigned bus clean and inspect the buses to insure safety of passengers.
- Keeps to assigned busing schedule.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Other Functions
- Inspect and initial all fire extinguishers regularly and conduct monthly fire drills.
- Submit quarterly and incident reports and logs to the building administrator.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting and stooping. Occasional climbing and crawling.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
