Our client manufactures prefabricated modular power buildings and equipment enclosures, supporting industries that rely on pre-built, factory-tested power infrastructure. Fabrication and welding take place in a shop/manufacturing environment where structural teams build the carbon-steel frames, skids, and enclosures that form the backbone of each unit.


This role fits, welds, and finishes carbon-steel components used in frames, enclosures, skids, and prefabricated power buildings. The Structural Welder / Fabricator will perform MIG and flux-core welding across flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, reading fabrication drawings and weld symbols to consistently meet quality and dimensional requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on structural welding or heavy fabrication experience in a shop environment, takes pride in weld quality and joint preparation, and can maintain steady production pace on a second-shift schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Fit, tack, weld, and finish structural-steel frames, supports, panels, bases, and enclosure components
• Perform MIG and flux-core welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as required
• Read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, dimensions, bills of material, and work instructions
• Set up welding equipment and select proper wire, gas, amperage, voltage, and travel speed for the assigned work
• Use grinders, plasma cutters, torches, saws, clamps, fixtures, and measuring tools to prepare and finish materials
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, weld size, penetration, appearance, and final dimensions before releasing work
• Correct weld defects and fabrication issues in accordance with approved procedures
• Operate or assist with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging activities when trained and authorized
• Maintain a safe, organized work area and complete required production and quality documentation

Required Experience/Skills

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• At least 2 years of structural welding or heavy fabrication experience in a shop or manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience with GMAW/MIG and FCAW processes on carbon steel
• Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and AWS weld symbols
• Ability to pass a company-required weld test before placement
• Ability to work a second-shift schedule and maintain dependable attendance

Nice-to-Haves

• AWS D1.1 structural welding experience or current certification
• Experience fabricating electrical enclosures, E-houses, industrial skids, structural frames, or data-center equipment
• Experience with SMAW, plasma cutting, air-arc gouging, overhead cranes, and basic rigging

Education
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.

Physical and Work Environment

• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and work in a variety of welding positions
• Ability to lift and position up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment for heavier material
• Ability to work around welding fumes, heat, sparks, noise, and moving equipment while using required PPE
