Metallurgical Engineer

The Metallurgical Engineer will lead continuous improvement in process metallurgy, driving excellence in manufacturing, evaluation, and performance of sheet products produced at TN operations in their area of responsibility.At Arconic, we take pride in our work and our innovative products and technologies that advance sustainable solutions for a better world. Measure initial success and monitor ongoing results in process management to continually improve our products and processes.Support involves using Metallurgy/Material Science experience and classroom knowledge to develop improvement plans for the process to ensure customer satisfaction and drive cost reduction.Troubleshoot, design and execution of experiments to develop processes and products.Determining impact and process control for equipment and operations that affect product qualityProvide input to improve uptime and equipment reliability, and adherence to regulatory and Arconic EHS requirements.Daily duties are performed in a “hands on” environment and include, but are not limited to, providing on-call response to implement reaction plans, and restore flow, as well as developing and implementing root cause solutions to prevent problem recurrence.Providing day-to-day technical advice, problem solving and support to operations and maintenance by applying quality systems and engineering principles, ABS and reliability tools to drive problems to root cause.Initiating and/or implementing improvement projects to eliminate safety and quality concerns, reduce cost, and ensure customer satisfaction.Application, auditing, and compliance with ISO 90001/IATF 16949, and ISO 17025 standards, procedures and product/process control to comply with second and third-party audits in area of responsibility. Basic Qualifications:Must have a bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of hire.3 years’ experience as a Metallurgist in an aluminum manufacturing environmentEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced DegreeExperience with rolling operations.Quality system experience (TS 16949).Lean manufacturing experience.Metallurgical experience with automotive products.Experience with heat treatable alloys.Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.Effective quality problem solving skills to the root cause and the ability to drive continuous improvement.Knowledge of and ability to apply quality systems, basic statistical techniques, metrology, inspection and test methods.Capable and effective at being able to communicate the principles of quality systems, process management and statistical tools in a user-friendly manner to manufacturing personnel.Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Statistical Data analysis packages such as Minitab, Spotfire)Full timePosting Date: 2026-05-18
